Universal Garage Door Relay
The 2GIG GDR1-345 is a garage door relay designed to integrate control of a garage overhead door motor with a 2GIG KEY2 key fob. It is a self contained relay inside the transformer block that plugs into standard US 120VAC. Generally, there is a duplex (2 power outlets) ceiling-mounted above the garage motor. Ideally, the relay should be plugged in there since the height offers greater reception.
The GDR1 will support up to 10 2GIG key fobs! It is recommended that you first test for local RF interference. There is learn and signal indicator LED just beside the learn button. If this is flashing before you transmit any signals from the key fob it means the receiver is experiencing some RF interference. Relocate the unit and ensure the indicator light is not flashing. Test before you wire the unit to the motor!
There is a pair of screw terminals on the bottom side of the relay with dry contact (Form A) output 1 Amp @ 32VDC max. Before the device is powered connect a patch cable of 18 gauge, 2 conductor (18/2) cabling from the relay to the motor. Cable not included. Simply land the new wires in parallel (on top of) the existing wires from the wall-mounted push button. After the wiring connections are made plug in the transformer and secure it into the receptacle using the retaining screw.
In order to enroll a key fob with the receiver you will need to press and release the learn button on the side of the relay block. Then press and hold (3 seconds) the key fobs asterisk (*) button. The learn indicator should flash several times. Then test the key fob by pressing the * button to activate the motor. Be sure to remove any panic button zone programming associated with the key fob before enrolling with the garage motor.
