    Description

Vintage Penn Senator 12/0 with Wooden Knob.
Bakelite plates are nice with no chips or cracks.Star drag provides a range of adjustment and positive pressure.
Freespool functions as it should and spool spins freely and very smooth. Foot is unfiled, in original configuration, unmarked and no part number. Click button is tight and loud. Nice example of a vintage Penn trolling reel. I’m a lure collector and from that position I would say that this reel is maybe a  5 or 6 out of 10 on the looks side and a 10/10 mechanically I would say. There are no cracks or chips and It works perfectly I will pack in a heavy box I’m guessing because of the weight shipping will be if it’s less I’ll stick some cash in your box. If it’s more I’ll pay the extra .I only ship to USA addresses.
I do ship to the shipping centers and they do the foreign shipping .please look at all photos and ask questions thanks for looking and good luck bidding. I do not take offers and I do not end auctions early. PS I do not clean lures or reels I sell I leave that to the new owner the rod in one of the pics is back or the wall with a new old  reel

This was sent to me last night. Thanks.
A word about your 12/0. The 12/0 was introduced in 1937, and came with no front rod clamp rings and with the long , sideways mounted Catalin resin knob. This knob style was not popular, and was replaced with the torpedo style knob for 1939. The fact that your reel has both the front rod clamp rings and the original style knob indicates it is a 1938 model. A 39 would have the classic Penn torpedo knob. Just wanted to clarify, it can be difficult to date a Penn to a specific year but in this case I’m pretty solid on 1938 model.
    And more thanks
The info is from Mike Cacioppo’s book The Chronological History of Penn Reels 1932 to 1957. Also, your handle appears to be( wood from a big rose bush....ebay would not let me use the proper name} There was a woman that worked on the handle line in those days who would tinker around after hours with custom handle designs. There are at least three big round [wood from a big rose bush] knobs she crafted that left the factory on reels. If it’s
[wood from a big rose bush]
and not Catalin resin, there is a possibility it is a “ handle lady” creation. No way to know for certain, but is a possibility. The round ones I mentioned are very rare and very valuable, not an authorized Penn design but known for a fact to have came from the factory.
I hate having to do this [  wood from a big rose....bush]  when I use the words together like rose and wood it says that its a protected wood in a number of country's.
